LifeStyle Balance Program helps reduce health risks

Thursday, August 16, 2018

Beartooth Billings Clinic is offering a 12-month program, beginning in October, for those looking to make a lifestyle change to improve their overall health as well as prevent type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

LifeStyle Balance is the National Diabetes Prevention Program offering structured classes focusing on nutrition, exercise, stress management and lifestyle changes. Those interested can sign up for a free one hour information session to determine if Life-Style Balance is right for them. Info sessions are from 12 noon – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept.25 or Thursday, Sept. 27, at Beartooth Billings Clinic.

Dani Sindelar, RDN, Beartooth’s Registered Dietitian Nutritionist will be leading the program along with Cardiac Rehabilitation Nurse Heidi Hunsperger, RN. The course is offered under the direction of a healthcare provider to ensure student safety.

To be eligible for Life-Style Balance, one must be 18 or over, have a body mass index (BMI) of 24 or higher and show a readiness to change. The focus of this program is to promote weight loss, increased activity and an improved quality of life.

Students in the yearlong program will be eligible for a 40% monthly membership discount at Well Approach Fitness Professionals in Red Lodge. Course materials as well as blood test fees for cholesterol, fasting glucose, A1C and Vitamin D tests are included in the $125 cost of the program. Medicaid will cover the cost of the LifeStyle Balance program. This project is funded, in part, under a contract with the MT Department of Health and Human Services.

Register for the LifeStyle Balance program by Friday, Sept. 7. To get more info on this life changing program or to see if it is right for you, contact Dani Sindelar, RDN, at (406) 446-0664 /
