Linda Fellows, 74, of Red Lodge, passed away on Dec. 12, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Healthcare in Billings after a brief illness.

Linda Sue Lawellin was born on Nov. 13, 1947, to Bob and Marilou (Rigler) Lawellin in Livingston, Montana.  In her early years, Linda and her family lived in Livingston, Gardner, and Canyon Village in Yellowstone Park. The family moved to Manhattan when Linda was a sophomore and that is where she met and started dating the love of her life, Dick Fellows.

After high school, Linda enrolled at the University of Montana and Dick transferred from MSU in Bozeman to Missoula to join her (We aren’t sure if she was trying to get away from him :))

On Sept. 14, 1968, Dick and Linda were married in Bozeman, Montana.  Linda decided to put her studies on hold to start work at the University of Montana to support Dick completing his master’s degree in accounting. In 1971, Linda gave birth to twin sons, Brett, and Chris.

Linda worked many years for the Billings school system. After she retired, she turned her attention to volunteering with organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Yellowstone and Carbon Counties, YWCA Billings, the Beartooth Billings Clinic Foundation, and the BareTooth Cupboards Food Bank of Red Lodge.

Linda was a wonderful cook and host to her many friends and family. She made everyone feel welcome and part of the family.  Linda cared deeply and would do anything for those around her, especially for those she had been close friends with for decades. She especially loved cooking for her grandkids who always looked forward to morning waffles and ‘Grammy surprise’ for dinner.

Linda loved animals and shared her heart with many wonderful pets over the years. She was even willing to get kicked out of married student housing rather than give up her cat Sydney. Her current pet, Kate, misses her dearly.

Dick and Linda were married for 53 wonderful years. They shared an endless number of adventures and memories.  They especially loved relaxing at their cabin, sitting on the front porch, enjoying a glass of wine, and waiting to see what wild animal would cross the lawn.

Linda will be missed by Dick, son Brett (Monica) of Billings and son Chris (Sue) of Draper, Utah.  Her grandchildren, Sally, Libby of Billings, Caden and Ashley of Utah have special memories of their Grammy.  Linda also leaves behind her brother Curt Lawellin of Manhattan.  Linda’s extended (close) family also includes a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a service held at Red Lodge Community Church on Saturday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. Interment of her ashes will be held this spring in Manhattan, Montana. Reception to follow at the Red Lodge Elks Lodge. Dick would like to thank the EMS of Red Lodge and the Beartooth Billings Clinic for the assistance and care they provided to Linda.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Red Lodge Fire Rescue, Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County and Beartooth Billings Clinic Foundation.
