Louise M. Roccoforte

Louise Monica Roccoforte, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Nov. 17, 2018 at Cedar Wood Villa in Red Lodge, Montana.  She was born Feb. 1, 1926 as Louise Salandini in Port Angeles, Washington to Italian immigrants John and Giovanna (Fioretti) Salandini.  

The family moved to Escondido, California in 1940 and owned and operated a vineyard and avocado ranch.  Louise served in the Air Force at the Pentagon during the Korean War. She graduated from Long Beach State University then became an elementary school teacher in Escondido, California. After marrying Jack Roccoforte Jr. in 1957 she raised a family in Escondido where she resided until her husband’s death in 2003.

In 2004 Louise moved in with her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Kim Roccoforte of Luther, Montana, to begin a new adventure. She loved reading, gardening, hiking along rivers, viewing wildlife and wildflowers.  She loved to photograph snow, horses and cattle in the yard. She enjoyed drives up the Beartooth Pass into Yellowstone Park. Louise made many friends at the Red Lodge Senior Center and Cedar Wood Villa. She loved the small town feel of Red Lodge and the personal connection with locals.

Louise is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 46 years, her sister and brother-in-law Mary and David Molina, and brother Fr. Victor Salandini.  Her sister Rosi Pederson passed away 12 days after Louise.

Louise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Kim Roccoforte of Luther, Montana, daughters and sons-in-law Julia and James Shores of Seal Beach, California, and Lisa and David Eddo of Escondido, California. She also has grandsons Jimmy and Jonathan Shores, granddaughter Kristi Eddo and grandson and wife Anthony and Ali Eddo, along with her brother-in-law Curt Pederson of Long Beach, California. Also remaining are her nieces, nephews and their families.

Louise will be laid to rest in Escondido, California, on Dec. 18, 2018 following a Rosary the 17th at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary and Mass, Dec. 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Escondido, California.
