The Nondiscrimination Resolution was discussed with the public for the 4th time at the recent Red Lodge City council meeting.

The Resolution will be voted on at the next council meeting, Oct. 24.

After hearing public comments both for and against the resolution, Council member Anna Drew again reiterated that the resolution is “To protect certain classes of our community not protected by state and federal law.”

She told those attending the meeting that the resolution is “Not a binding law, just a statement saying we are a city of inclusion.”

“To the folks that say we are living in this community of acceptance right now so why do we need to put it on paper? Maybe so tourists know for no other reason,” said Drew. “If every single person that lived here never discriminates and never have and never will that is super great but we are also a tourist town and we want to say to the world that everybody is welcome here.”

Oct. 24 will be the last opportunity to speak on the resolution said Mayor Mike Schoenike.
