Obituaries Cary Lee Andersen

Cary Lee Andersen, 48, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at her home in Sterling.

Cary was born Nov. 20, 1969 in Red Lodge, Montana. She moved to Alaska in 1973 at 3 years old. In 1980, she belonged to the Junior Dog Mushers Gang Club. Cary and her dog "Sam" won both the Junior and open class pulls, toting 1530 and 690 pounds respectively, at the Peninsula Winter Games.

During her school years, she played softball on the Soldotna All Star Team. She loved riding snow machines, motorcycles, horses, and camping. Cary graduated from Soldotna High School in 1988. Later she received her CNA degree and worked at Heritage Place and Harbor Lights House Assisted Living.

Cary loved her family, and always had a passion to help friends in need, and gave them a place to stay, putting others first before her own needs. The Light of her Life was her daughter, Hali, and Cary would sing to Hali, "You are My Sunshine" when she was little.

Cary was preceded in death by her grandma Sylvia Engler, aunt Faye Allen, uncle Richard Roat, all from Red Lodge, Montana, and half-sister Charlotte Bostick of Springtown, Texas.

Cary leaves behind her husband Kevin Andersen, daughter Hali, father Robert Currier, mother Colleen Currier, half-sister Vicki Row of Azle, Texas, aunt Shirley Roat of Red Lodge, many cousins in Montana, Tennessee, Texas, and a very special friend Debra LeBrell of Soldotna.

Cary will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, and her dogs, "Buddy and Lucky."

A Celebration of Cary's Life was held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai. In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to a  charity of your choice.
