Olson ties up Joliet high jump record

Ry Olson of Joliet had a good day at the Park City-Harlowton meet at Laurel Sports Complex last week. Olson not only placed first in the triple jump but he equaled his school’s high jump record of 6’5” to take the top spot. The record was set by Tony Kenyon in 1992. Olson beat out Huntley Project along with Roberts’ Allexander Kosel and Dylan Webster of Bridger.

Olson’s triple jump of 42-09.75 just pipped Kosel into 2nd and Taylor Rowlison, Joliet, took 4th and Webster placed 5th.

Over all Joliet boys took 4th with a points total of 58 with Roberts in 5th on 53. Red Lodge ended up 9th on 20 points and Bridger 11th, with 10 points.

For the girls, Red Lodge placed 5th with 40 points, Joliet 6th on 32 with Roberts at 12 and Bridger and Belfry at 18 and 19 respectively.

In the boys 1,600m run Gus Dines of Roberts just beat out Austin Heimer of Red Lodge to take first with a time of 4:41.55 and proceeded to keep Red Lodge at arm’s length by taking the 3,200m run with a time of 10:37.65. Cameron Avent, Red Lodge, took 3rd.

Joliet boys continued to dominate their County teams, coming 4th in the 4X100m relay.

Brett Robinson added on the points for Joliet winning the pole vault, surpassing Andy VanOrnum of Roberts, whose compatriot Kosel went on to take the long jump with 22-02.25.

In the girls’ tournament Ariel Wotten, Roberts, took 2nd in the 100m dash and 5th in the 200 m dash.

Katie Jacobsen, Red Lodge, ran a great 1,600m to take first with a time of 5:53.04 while team mate Riki Poore placed 2nd in the 100m hurdles with 17.19.

Red Lodge also claimed the 4X400m relay with 4:20.78.

Kallie Zinne, Joliet, leapt into first in high jump with a 4-10 score and took top honors in the long jump with 16-05.

K. Jacobsen of Red Lodge finished 2nd in the pole vault.
