On Friday, Oct. 19, at approximately 2:20 p.m. Red Lodge Dispatch received a report of a large cement truck going over the edge of Bearcreek Hill on Highway 308.

Montana Highway Patrol, Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, Carbon County DES, Red Lodge Fire and Red Lodge EMS responded.

The driver made a comment to the deputy that he was “losing (his) brakes” and jumped out of the truck.

According to Sheriff Josh McQuillan the driver was transported to Beartooth Billings Clinic with minor injuries. It is unknown whether alcohol was a factor. Crews were still on scene removing debris on Monday.

The investigation is continuing.

One local person said, “the driver jumped out and the truck hit a bank and flew through the air, clearing a barbed wire fence and leaving a deep trough in its path.”
