Pamela S. Moore, 73, of Bearcreek died at home Tuesday evening, Sept. 4, 2018, surrounded by family, after a 12-week battle against a malignant brain tumor.

Pam was born to Paul S. “Sam” Roth and Dorothy Mae (Sramek) Roth in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Feb. 11, 1945. Pursuing a career with the U.S. Forest Service, Sam moved his family to Chadron, Neb. in the late 1950s, then to Dubois, Wyo. in the early 1960s, and to Cody, Wyo. in 1962, where Pam met her husband-to-be, James E. Moore II. Pam and Jim graduated together from Cody High School in 1963 and were married in Cody on June 14, 1964.

They lived in Riverton, Wyo., Laramie, Wyo., Amarillo, Texas, Billings and Denver before settling in Red Lodge, arriving on April 1, 1976 and working together to operate KRBN Radio. They purchased Village News and Books in Red Lodge in 1978 and Pam became manager. She later worked for Montana Bank of Red Lodge and for Carbon County Treasurer Bill Gebo, then became bookkeeper at the Carbon County News, and later for papers in Bridger, Columbus and Hardin.

In July 2001, Pam and her husband opened Rock Creek Laundromat, which she operated and managed until becoming ill in June of this year.

For many years, Pam was on the board of Carbon County Habitat for Humanity and chaired the annual Hoedown fundraiser for the Carbon County Historical Society. She formed lasting friendships with many volunteers and members of the two organizations.

Pam was proud of her marriage of 54 years. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Amy Moore of Belgrade and Helena, Danielle Moore of Roberts and Red Lodge, and grandsons Christopher Moore of Helena and Cadence Moore of New Orleans, La.

Friends and acquaintances are invited to a potluck Celebration of Life in Pam’s memory at the family home in Bearcreek on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 3 p.m. No services are planned.

Donations in Pam’s name may be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Carbon County Historical Society, or the charity of one’s choice.
