Pass the East Rosebud Bill in the House

The East Rosebud Wild and Scenic bill has passed the U.S. Senate. In order to become a law it must be passed by the U.S. House of Representatives this year. If it doesn't make it, the bills dies in the Senate and the House and the whole process would have to start over. This is the third congressional session that the East Rosebud has had bills in both the Senate and the House.

Leslie Ziegler of Friends of East Rosebud says, “We want to get this done now as we have been working toward this goal for 9 years.” Yet it is not moving in the House. We ask our representative, Congressman Greg Gianforte to take this bill home.

There is no debate that this is a spectacular pristine area enjoyed by many Carbon County and Stillwater residents and tourists for over a century. Its stunning mountain vista is one of the most beautiful in the Beartooths. It has a pure watershed and drainage fed by high mountain lakes stretching up to 10,000 foot towering spires. A mecca for fishermen and campers alike, any Montanan should want this outstanding site protected.

Congressman Gianforte has come to the Save the E. Rosebud event at this scene and praised the ongoing efforts.

We ask Congressman Gianforte to take the steps to finish this long haul of effort by getting the East Rosebud Wild and Scenic act H.R. 4645 up for a vote on the House floor.

Since Congressman Gianforte sits on the Natural Resource committee and the Federal Lands committee these two committees must have a hearing and then a vote to send it to the House floor. Congressman Gianforte has said he supports protecting the E. Rosebud. This is the hour to stand up and put words into action to complete the process for all Montanans.
