Roberts native Shawn Perkins, a sophomore at MSU Bozeman, won the bareback riding title at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s (NIRA) Big Sky Regional Finals at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls, May 2-4.

He is now headed to the College National Finals in Casper, Wyoming.

Perkins has been a steady winner since high school and continues to perform in the fine family tradition. He suffered a broken back at one point in high school competition and has completely recovered and has fearlessly continued full speed ahead.
