Public meeting on the Carbon County Hazard Mitigation Plan update

Thursday, October 24, 2019

Carbon County is hosting a public meeting to discuss the update of the County’s hazard mitigation plan with an emphasis on hazards such as floods, wildfires and landslides and their potential impacts. The meeting will take place on Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Personal Services Building located at 10 Oakes Ave South in Red Lodge.

The hazard mitigation plan details the risk that multiple hazards pose to the County, Towns of Bearcreek, Bridger, Fromberg, Joliet and the City of Red Lodge and identifies strategies intended to reduce future losses from these hazards. The plan is being updated under the guidance of a multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (HMPC) with assistance from a consultant. Attendees will learn more about the hazards and strategies to mitigate them at this meeting. Public input is also being sought on these same topics at this meeting.

For more information on the hazard mitigation plan, phone Tom Kohley at the County DES office at 446-1038 or email
