People at the Red Lodge Rams, Poplar game last Fri- day stood incredulously as touchdowns fell from the sky like confetti.

“I’ve never seen a football game like it,” said one spectator.

Anyone arriving three minutes after kickoff, like I did, could be mistaken for thinking the game had started early and this was the

2nd quarter since the score was already 20-0 Rams. However, the game was still in its 1st quarter infancy.

At this game, you daren’t blink.

Within another minute or two the Rams were 34-0 to the good courtesy of Rizon Berndt and Spencer Jacobsen.

Poplar was looking like they’d walked the 366 miles to Red Lodge.

The 1st quarter finished with another attacking flurry as the Rams added another 7 points to make it 40-0.

A quick touchdown by Skyler Quenzer from 15 yards at the start of the 2nd quarter piled on more misery for Poplar and triggered the mercy rule.

It also triggered a semblance of fighting spirit in the Poplar team as if tired of being a punchbag they finally started to stifle some of the Rams creativity and produce some of their own plays and hold their own

ground.
The effort was short-

lived and by the 3rd Red Lodge, through Hayes Heidinger, made it 53 – 0. A two-point conversion by Davis Kruezer made it 55-0.

Poplar managed a consolation touchdown and even tried a 2-point conversion that failed.

Again Red Lodge showed greater efficiency, possessing the ball for only 8:47 minutes to Poplar’s 36:53 minutes.

The Rams also had 15 rushing attempts for 156 compared to Poplar’s 26 for 129.

Discipline is also a factor in the Rams performance giving up one penalty for 5 yards with Poplar giving up 4 for 20 yards and allowing 3 sacks for a loss of 16 yards.

In rushing stats Hei- dinger had 2 attempts for 55 yards and a touchdown; Quenzer, 3 for 35 yards and one touchdown; Jacobsen 4

attempts for 29 yards, one touchdown, and Jay Jet- more 1 attempt for 25 yards and a touchdown plus a kick return touchdown for 89 yards.

Braden Tomlin had a punt return touchdown for 66 yards.

Jay Graham continued his excellent kicking form, missing only 2 of the 7 he took.
