Red Lodge City council discusses items at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Now no one will have an excuse to be left in the dark regarding Red Lodge City issues as the council gets set to stream all meetings and post them on youtube.

Every meeting will be permanently stored on the iCloud and be available to review at any time, searching by key words. Pagefreezer is the program being used and it archives all records.

“The city clerks have worked really hard finding the right app we could use,” said Bill Larson, Red Lodge Mayor. “We looked at companies to store the stuff but the clerks stepped forward and found a solution.”

The City will also be updating its internet speed to help viewers.

A camera has been placed at the council chambers and will transfer the meetings to a notebook.

The reasoning behind streaming the meetings is to provide more transparency.

“It is surprising the amount of people watching it at home. I know of one person from Billings,” said Larson. “The big problem is misinformation, and old information but this way, here it is.”

People will be able to comment on meetings said City Clerk DeNaye Kern, but there will be an acceptable use policy in place.

“An inappropriate comment will be hidden from other viewers but not removed,” said Kern. “Being a governmental entity we cannot delete comments.”

The total cost of the project was $120.
