Red Lodge High School took wrestlers to the State B/C Wrestling Tournament in Shelby last weekend, with Senior Riley DeVries taking 2nd place at the championships.

Coaches, Hoke Lytton and Jake Grove, led five young men and one young woman to State Championships this season.

“I appreciate that our wrestlers were able to compete at this level, and can see the direct result of their hard work, talent and dedication,” said Lytton. “It is attainable. I loved being able to get our wrestlers into this atmosphere, so they had the opportunity to recognize what it takes to compete and be successful at the divisional and State levels. There is no supplement to this experience.”

RLHS’s wrestling program is in its second season, and is building champions from the ground up. The program’s foundation has cultivated a wrestling culture that exhibits the competitiveness and regard of schools with decades of established programs.

“Regardless of what day it is, each and every day, we are working to get better,” said Lytton. The program is committed to fundamentals, work ethic, discipline and respect to the sport. Their team mantra is, ‘Better every day’. “This is what we’re about,” said Lytton. “We’re moving forward. I’m proud of their commitment. We’re constantly building on our foundation. It matters what they’re doing today, for tomorrow, and they’re making a difference.”

Congratulations to the RLHS Rams wrestling team and State Competitors, Seniors-Calahan Barker, Riley DeVries, Juniors-Gable Davis, Trent Petersen and Della Sibbet, and Freshman-Stran Lytton.
