Red Lodge Newcomers

Five families in July were welcomed to Red Lodge by Linda Fisher of the Red Lodge Newcomer Service. One chose not to be included in this article. Each one received a welcome packet, compliments of some of the local business community.  Please welcome these new families:

• Karen and Greg Espegren recently moved here from Eagle, Colorado near Vail Colorado.  They had been looking for a small mountainous community and had visited Red Lodge 3-4 times before deciding to move here.  Greg was a fish biologist before retiring and Karen is still working as a gifted and talented education coordinator. They have a golden retriever called Abby. Karen has a son who lives in Australia and has two grandchildren and a daughter that lives in Canada. Greg has a daughter that lives in Phoenix, Arizona. They both love to hike, camp, and down hill and cross-country ski, plus Greg enjoys fishing and hunting.

 • Shaddon Leroy recently moved here after marrying Mark Finken. They both are retired. Shaddon has two adult sons, one living in Montague, Massachusetts and the other in New York City.  They have a dog and a cat.  Mark likes to do pencil portrait drawings. Shaddon would like to start a network system of local artists. She has written interior and exterior design articles for the Billings Gazette, is a seamstress and does staging, and event planning.  Shaddon likes to swim, go to theatres, and do architectural gardening.

• Heather and Dana Quenzer moved here from Roundup, Montana. Heather was the elementary PE teacher in Roundup and is now the K-8 PE teacher in Joliet and Dana was the high school principal in Roundup and is now the Red Lodge High School Principal. Their daughter, Shaylee will be in 8th grade and their son Skyler will be in 10th grade.  As a family they like to camp, boat, waterski, fish, ride ATV’s, and downhill ski. Dana also enjoys playing golf.

• Jennifer and David Yen recently moved here from Shanghai, China. They wanted to get away from the crowded conditions in China and knew some people here in Red Lodge and came for a visit a couple of times.  David is originally from Los Angeles.  He is a CPA. They have two sons, Julius who is 12 and Ethan who is 16. The boys enjoy playing volleyball and ping pong. David is hoping to get back into biking and running and possibly golf once he is acclimated. Jennifer is interested in possibly teaching a Chinese class and a Chinese cooking class.

Please note:  anyone new to Red Lodge who would like to receive a free Welcome Packet or if you would like to be a business sponsor may do so by contacting Linda Fisher, Red Lodge Newcomer Service at 425-2626.
