Red Lodge Oktoberfest on its way

Thursday, September 5, 2019

Red Lodge’s 22nd Oktoberfest will take place Sept. 7.  This year’s event will be a fundraiser for the Beartooth Recreational Trails Association (BRTA).  Since 2015, over $11,000 has been raised through Red Lodge Oktoberfest for the BRTA.

At 2 pm, brewers will tap the ceremonial cask of this year’s Oktoberfest Lager.  Oktoberfest musical entertainment will include Red Lodge’s own Alte Kameraden playing traditional German music from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. and Billings-based Soul Funk Collective playing sweet, funky soul music from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Admission is $5 and free under 12 years of age.  Proceeds got the BRTA.

The BRTA will serve brats made by 4th Avenue Meats and German sides provided by Oktoberfest German Restaurant of Billings this year. Many local vendors will have arts and crafts for sale.  Kids’ activities will include face painting, kids’ games, and a bounce house.  The “Oktoberfest Olympics” for adults will kick off at 4 pm.  Teams of five will compete in the keg toss, tug-o-war, musical chair scavenger hunt, and other games.  At 5:30 p.m. judges will judge the best costume for kids, men, and women.  New this year will be a beard competition, also at 5:30 p.m.

A Taxi service to Red Lodge from the brewery will be available.
