Richard Colt Thiel

Richard Colt Thiel, 63, passed away peacefully in Powell Valley Care Center in Powell, Wyoming Monday morning, July 20, 2020.
Rich, or Colt as he was affectionately called by family, grew up in Red Lodge, Montana and, for the majority of his life, lived in or around the Beartooth Mountains. He was an avid skier and outdoorsman. He spent many winters teaching ski lessons on Red Lodge Mountain where he inspired a passion for snow sports and mountain life in future generations.
He spent his summers exploring the majestic Beartooth Mountains and actively participating in mountain man activities.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Pearl Elizabeth (Mickey) Thiel and his father Garry Dyer. He is survived by his daughter Austine Thiel, his brothers Jess (Val) Thiel and Lloyd (Tammy) Thiel, sisters Betty Thiel and Lisa Wood, nephews Richard Thiel, Zach Thiel, Justice Wood, and Jarret Wood, and nieces Stacy Thiel, Dani Thiel, Breanne Thiel, Katie (Michael) Hildebrand, Alex (Mark) Jemmings, Sam Nygaard, and Autumn (Kenny) Marchbanks.
His remains are donated to WWAMI for medical education purposes per his wishes, but friends and loved ones are invited to join family in a remembrance and celebration of his life on Aug. 1 at 3 p.m. at 591 Old Divide Road, Roundup, Montana.
