The Roberts High School Class of seven students celebrated their graduation on a sunny Sunday, May 20, at the gym. The Valedictorian was Allexander Kosel and the Salutatorian was Avery Walker.

The grads were Walker, Kosel, Andrew Van Ornum, Alex Dickhausen, Augustus Dines, Gosiah Gibson and Kayleen Robinson.

Kosel intimately shared that he had “fear and anxiety since I was a freshman.” But he resolved, “You can’t know what tomorrow will bring.”

Commencement Speaker was a former Roberts Rocket and track star, Rick Hibbs. He gave an impassioned speech that encouraged the graduates to think like a long distance runner: Keep your eyes up, head forward and shoulders back” he advised. “There is not one path, take more than one path. You can get confident in just one way. With different routes you are more engaged. Some are a better fit.” In life he advised, “Every path has an easy part and really hard stretches. Take not one path but all different paths.” He said some people you will outrun; some will outpace you.

He said, “You have already come so far! But you are just getting started. The 12 years through high school were just practice. Find your pace and path-and you’ll be just fine.”
