The community of Roberts is brimming with activity this week as the much-anticipated USO style show Carbon County USA 2019 approaches on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Roberts School. The planning committee, representing the communities of Red Lodge, Joliet and Roberts, is proud to invite the public to attend this free event as the nation celebrates Memorial Day this weekend. Carbon County USA 2019, honoring area veterans past and present celebrates the patriotic project of crosses and dog tags, which are visible along the “Veteran Memorial Corridor” this week.

Highlighting the show is Bill Johnson, nationally renowned tribute artist for the great Armed Forces military troop entertainer Bob Hope, who has performed at such well-known venues as the national WWII Museum in New Orleans.  The M.C. for the gala program is General Quinn, Adjutant General for the state of Montana.

Various local Carbon County artists will be performing for the crowd. Area entertainers include such notables as Daniel Kosel, Ann Daniel, PaMela Elver, Home Brew Harmony, the Joliet High School Band and singers, Noah Grewell and Roy Buzzard and the Bones. Expect to be wowed by such perennial favorites as Phyllis Diller, Mae West and the Andrew Sisters.

Food trucks will be on site, allowing attendees to purchase food and drinks from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., during pre-show activities and entertainment. Culinary truck enthusiasts will find a wide selection from such vendors as Smoky Bones, Wok N Roll and Taco Treats. T-Shirts commemorating the event will also be available for purchase, ensuring lasting memories of this major event.

Due to limited parking, the Bertolino Ranch, directly south of Roberts, has made available parking, with school buses from Joliet and Red Lodge to shuttle from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and after the program from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. Parking is also provided by Marco LaRowe behind the school, with handicapped spaces available across from the school.

Although there is no admission for the show, donations will be welcomed. Proceeds will go to Carbon County veteran projects, Operation Second Chance and Carbon Stillwater Yellow Ribbon Community.
