SouthCentral Cattle and Forage series set

Thursday, January 24, 2019

Montana State University Extension agents in Yellowstone, Carbon, Big Horn, and Stillwater Counties have teamed up to present the Southcentral Cattle and Forage Series.  The workshops will be held Feb. 4 - 5, featuring the same set of presentations in Columbus, Joliet, Hardin, and Huntley.  Attendees are encouraged to attend the workshop that best fits their schedule.

Speakers include Darrin Boss, MSU Northern Ag Research Center Superintendent, Megan Van Emon, MSU Extension Beef Cattle Specialist, Callie Cooley, MSU Extension Agent in Yellowstone County, and Nikki Bailey, MSU Extension Agent in Carbon County.  Boss will discuss his research regarding grazing cover crops, while Van Emon will discuss mineral supplementation strategies for beef cattle, as well as summarize research done on grazing sugar beets.  Cooley and Bailey’s presentation will focus on how genetic selection has advanced and how it can be used by both seed stock and commercial producers.
