Miguel Valdez and I meet when I was working for Wyoming Game and Fish Department installing steel jack fence around a portion of Trout Creek for a stream restoration project, south of Rock Springs, Wyoming. I was going to be moving to Oklahoma to live with my sister, Tess, in November of 2015 when he told me that he could help me get into contact with Oklahoma State University to check out their graduate programs for fisheries biology. From there, we ended up texting each other and started dating long distance. I decided that moving back to Wyoming was going to be best to our relationship.

We both love to fish and adventure to the outdoors either to hike or hunt every chance that we get so Miguel's proposal was perfect. We were fly fishing down the Green River through Seedskadee National Wildlife Refuge on March 10, 2018. I was working on tying different flies onto my line in the drift boat when he came around and proceeded to tell me that he could not get onto one knee otherwise he was going to drown. Miguel nervously pulled out a small white box from his waders, opened it, and asked me to marry him. Of course I said yes!

Miguel and I have set our date to be June 1, 2019 in Red Lodge out on my grandparents ranch, the Draper Ranch. Reception will be held on the ranch starting at 5 p.m.
