Tony Zaversnik, Jr., age 95, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Regency Harmony House in Brewster, Washington.

He was born May 7, 1922 in Washoe, Montana to Mary (Zvizovic) Zaversnik and Tony Zaversnik, Sr.

After high school, Tony joined the Army and headed into WWII. He was sent to Camp Houze where he specialized in mechanics and received his Master Mechanic Certification.

During his military career he was part of the 84th Infantry Division “Railsplitters”, which was the original Old Lincoln Division. This took him to Germany through the Battle of the Bulge, The Siegfried Line and the Ardennes.

After WWII was over Tony went back to his home in Montana. He married Josephine Hart and her 3 children, Clarence, Betty and Doreen joined the family. Tony and Josephine had one child, Antionette.

He worked for Morrison Knutson starting in the early 1950’s on several Pacific Northwest Dams. After retiring from Morrison Knutson, he was employed by Wells Dam as Master Mechanic until his retirement.

He married Loretta Wolley in 1978 and became a father to her two daughters, Christine and Rosemary. After his retirement from Wells PUD, he and Loretta opened Countryside Studio in their home, which kept them busy with local framing and sale of prints.

He kept his hometown, Red Lodge, always in his heart and made annual trips with family to visit. He loved taking his grandchildren fishing and outdoor excursions of mushroom picking for Boletus and Morels.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta, daughter, Antionette (Toni) Ron Roberson, granddaughters, Christina-Tracy Shrable and Lisa-Brian Moriniti. Daughter, Christine Meyer-Rogers and granddaughter, Jennifer-Richard Edwards…and grandchildren and great grandchildren too numerous to list. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Mary Favero, Brother John Zaversnik, and daughter Rosemary Meyers. Tony was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be always missed by his loving family and many friends.

Please join the family for a graveside service at the Red Lodge Cemetery, Aug. 18, 2018, at 11 a.m.

Refreshments will be at the Red Lodge Senior Center after service.
