OPA office closing

To the Editor,

Help spread the word that it is important for everyone to contact the Governor’s office at balancedbudget.mt.gov to express concern about the planned closing of the Office of Public Assistance in counties with less than 3 workers.

Closing the OPA in Carbon County could be devastating for our most vulnerable resi- dents. Many residents needing the medical, nutritional and monetary assistance do not have the skills necessary to navigate a website or com- plete an application over the phone. Many of those who qualify for assistance lack transportation to get to Bill- ings, the closest office that would remain open in the south central part of Montana.

The public comment peri- od is open until Oct. 3, 2017. Please help get the word out to concerned people that they need to contact the governor at balancedbudget.mt.gov to express the need to keep our Office of Public Assistance open in Carbon County.

Thanks,

Mary Cameron
