Rayno Albert Kansala

Rayno Albert Kansala, 79, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017. Rayno was born in Roberts, Montana on July 5, 1938 to Toini Ollila Kansala and Matthew Kansala.
He graduated from Red Lodge High School, went to Montana State University and then enlisted in the Army. While in the Army, he was asked to participate in some of the very first computer engineering projects for the military, beginning his long career in computer sciences. Rayno had a passion for music, history, and his Finnish heritage.
He researched and restored many lost historical Finnish musical scores, and played in the “Alte Kameraden” band for several years. He also loved being a Montanan, enjoying the outdoors whenever he could, and fishing in particular.
Left to honor and remember him are his two daughters Julie Hill and Michelle Anderson, his grand-daughter Tessa, grandson Aaron, two sisters Jeannie and Marilyn and many cousins, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Rayno’s life is planned for early summer 2018 when the weather is “warm and sunny” per his wishes. The celebration will be a family and friends Finnish potluck, to honor the man, his music, and his love of family.
