Carbon County DUI Task Force to host Tea with a Cop

On Monday, Nov. 6, officers from Red Lodge Police Department, Carbon County Sherriff’s Office, Montana Highway Patrol, Youth Court, and community members will come together at Phoenix Pearl Tea to discuss community issues, build relationships, drink tea and have a light snack.
All community members are invited to attend the Nov. 6 event in Red Lodge. The event will be held at the Phoenix Pearl Tea Shop, from 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Please contact Mary Cameron with questions: 446-2500 or mcameron@scmrmhc.org.
Tea with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the officers’ work in our neighborhoods.
The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies, or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community. We are hoping to break down barriers and allow for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.
“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our officers,” said Mary Cameron, Carbon County DUI Task Force Coordinator. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup at a time.
