The Red Lodge Lady Rams took their season record to 3-2 prior to the festive break after defeating Forsyth 48-41 and Lame Deer 65-38 last week. A Tuesday night loss to Roundup 44-28 will not dent the seasonal cheer after such recent strong showings.
The Lady Rams had defeated Forsyth in overtime having lead 27-21 towards the end. Six successful free throws out of 8 helped the Lady Rams over the finish line. Zoe Cortner scored 15 points in this game.
Against Lame Deer Red Lodge had an easier time, leading at the half 35-18 and continuing to lock out the opposition in the second.
Cortner against led in points with 29. Other scorers were Taylor Hardiman 7, Portia Cortner 6, Kylie Kelly 11, Rebecca Purcell 5, Shandy Castellani 1, Riki Poore 1, Meadow Smith 3, and Emme Evenson 2.
Roundup were to prove stiffer opposition with the Panthers keeping the Lady Rams at arm’s length and reducing them to single figures in each of the 4 quarters. This time Taylor Hardiman led with 13 points with Portia Cornter 2, Kylie Kelly 8, and Zoe Cortner 5.
The boys continue to try and find the right winning formula. Their season record now stands at 0-4.
Their loss to Lame Deer 71-60 was very tight, with the Rams matching the opposition’s efforts point for point until the final quarter when they went down 22-14. Kaden Myrstol led in points with 19, Tyler Bohan made 11 with Tucker Kane and Garrett Spencer both on 9.
Against Forsyth the Rams lost 70-53 and again they matched their opponents until the last quarter of play, losing it 26-12. Spencer this time led in points with 14, Austin Heimer getting 11 and Kane 10.
Roundup was a tougher trial with the Rams losing 62-33.
Roundup effectively shut out Red Lodge for long stretches, keeping them to few scoring chances throughout. Myrstol led with 10 points, Spencer got 9.
