Art’s Guild exhibit up and running

The Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery is now showing Art along the Bighorn: A Child’s Perspective running until Jan. 28. The exhibition originated in the art classes taught by the Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) education department. The program was for 3rd through 6th grade children who attend school on or adjacent to the Crow Indian Reservation, Crow Agency, and Hardin, Montana, all located along the Bighorn River.
Art work was gathered during the 2015-2016 school year and Yellowstone Art Museum education staff used the Visual Thinking Strategies method to deepen children’s learning experience and teach art lessons. The children looked, questioned, discussed, and created art based on the museum’s exhibitions and collections. This approach allowed for exploration in the creation and importance of art as an integral aspect how we have defined ourselves through art.
Art along the Bighorn: A Child’s Perspective is a YAM traveling show on view at the Carbon County Arts Guild & Depot Gallery in Red Lodge courtesy of funding from Kevin Red Star Studio, www.kevinredstar.com.
