BHA offers low-cost spay/neuter vouchers

The Beartooth Humane Alliance (BHA) will again be providing vouchers to qualified Carbon County residents for low-cost spay/neuter services for dogs and cats. The program aims to help reduce pet overpopulation by providing pet sterilization services to county residents who cannot afford the procedure for their pets. Recipients include families on a limited income, seniors on a fixed income and individuals who may be facing a temporary financial hardship.
The vouchers will be honored at Grizzly Peak Animal Hospital (Red Lodge), Red Lodge Veterinary Clinic (Red Lodge), Shiloh Vet (Billings), Absarokee Animal Hospital (Absarokee), and Dr. Diana Scollard (Absarokee) through 2018 or until available grant funding is exhausted. In addition to presenting the voucher to the veterinarian, residents will need to make a co-payment of $9 for a male cat, $33 for a female cat, $42-$76 for a male dog depending on weight and age, and $59-$119 for a female dog depending on weight and age.
If you are in a low-income situation and wish to have your pet sterilized, you can obtain a voucher application by calling 446-3500 or printing the application found at www.beartoothhumane.org. Fill out the application and return it with your co-payment to BHA at P.O. Box 2333, Red Lodge, MT 59068. When your application is approved, BHA will mail you a voucher with program details.
Upon receiving your voucher, you can make an appointment for surgery with your choice of the five veterinary clinics. You will present the voucher to the clinic at the time of surgery. Each voucher is valid for one routine spay-neuter surgical procedure. Any surgical complications or other services are not covered by the voucher. The veterinarian may refuse to perform surgery for any reason at their discretion.
There is limited funding for the vouchers so please don’t delay – spay or neuter your pet today! If you have questions, please call 446-3500. Funding for this important community service is made possible through the Golden Heart Foundation.
