Diane Rae Nagel

Diane Rae Nagel, age 69, passed away at Billings Clinic ICU with her beloved husband by her side on March 3, 2018.

Diane was born the second of seven children to John H. (Jack) Geer and Theda B. (Conner) Geer on Aug. 6, 1948 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, Montana.

Diane was a graduate of both Circle High School (1967) and Northern Montana College (1969) with an LPN degree in nursing. While in high school she fell madly in love with Dennis (Pete) Nagel and the two soulmates were married and became one on March 15, 1969.

Diane and Pete raised their three children in Colstrip Montana.  Diane was a much beloved member of the community and worked at the local branch of First Interstate Bank.

Diane and Pete built their dream home and retired in Joliet, Montana in 2008.  Together they have planted a backyard vineyard and have spent many happy hours perfecting their white wine (lovingly called White Trash), kegging home brew and attending local country music festivals with the countless new friends they have made in the Joliet area.

Diane was an active member of Saint Johns Catholic Church, the local food bank, the Joliet Garden Club and of course, The Bunco Babes of Joliet.

Diane is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years Dennis Nagel, son Jason Nagel of Columbus Montana, son Dusty Nagel and his wife Kelly Nagel of Arlee, Montana, their children Hunter Nagel, Tawnie and Kanoa Palazzolo and daughter Tisha Nagel and Patrick Doane parents to granddaughter Viola Doane of Thousand Oaks, California;  Charlene and Dave (deceased) Schlotte, Bevery and Jerry Freeman, Laurie McConnell, Montie and Lonnie Geer, Mary and David Jensen, Chuck and June Geer and countless nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on March 10, 2018 at Saint Johns Catholic Church in Joliet with Fr. Masilamani Suvakkin (Fr. Masi) presiding, with an internment at Yellowstone National Cemetery that shall be held in the future at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts in Diane’s memory can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital stjude.org or your favorite charity.
