Close results recorded in primaries

The primary local elections, held June 5, not only had a high number of candidates but also some close results for incumbents.

Republican David Howard faced off against challenger Betsy Scanlin (D) for Montana Senator District 29 and received 1,178 votes to Scanlin’s 1,175. Andrew Forcier (R) finished third on 714. Howard and Scanlin qualified for November’s elections.

In the State Rep, District 58 seat, Anna Drew (D) fell short by 35 votes to Seth Berglee (R) who picked up 1,193 votes to Drew’s 1,158. Both will run in November.

Bill Bullock and Scott Boggio booked their November places for the County Commissioner District 3 race with Bullock getting 1,730 votes to Boggio’s 1,369. Write in Hubert Hoines received 203 votes.

In the Commissioner District 2 race, Scott Blain received 2,011 votes with Joanne Blyton on 839. Gary Gray got 506 votes.

For the Commissioner District 1 seat, involving 10 candidates, Robert “Pits” DeArmond got 1,213 votes with Gordon Sirrine the closest challenger on 514 votes.

In the Judge District 22 election Ray Kuntz received 2,043 to Matthew Wald’s 1,133.

In the U.S. Senate vote Jon Tester (D) received 1,291 votes with Russ Fagg (R) in second with 885 votes.

For the US Representative encounter Greg Gianforte (R) got 2,009 votes, and John Heenan (D)

    Rock Creek Group meets Tuesdays and Saturdays at 8 a.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. at Calvary Church, 9 N Villard, Red Lodge.
