William (Bill) Eugene Lewis

Thursday, June 7, 2018

Born June 30, 1942, in Triplett, Missouri, to Robert and Opal (Wohlgemuth) Lewis (both deceased), Bill passed away in Billings, Montana, on Feb. 8, 2018. One of six children, Bill cherished and enjoyed family. Married for 46 years, Bill and Mary Ann (Clark) Lewis raised three children. Bill worked as a journeyman carpenter in Kansas City, Missouri, for 25 years before moving with his family to Montana.

Bill and Mary Ann owned and operated Lewis Manufacturing & Construction, Inc. until retirement. Maintaining both a commercial and an agriculture license, Bill supervised the building of steel buildings and grain bins for many years. Bill and Mary Ann played as hard as they worked. They both loved the mountains and enjoyed many hunting, fishing, and camping trips. Like most Montanans, Bill enjoyed his 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, boat, and horses whenever possible. Bill and Mary Ann loved to dance and travel as well.

Bill believed in giving back to his community and served as a Mason for 15+ years. Bill’s Masonic memberships include: Moss Agate Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, Corinthian Lodge No. 72, Al Bedoo Shriners (Black Horse Patrol Unit), and A&A Scottish Rite of Free Masonry (Life Member). Helping children with medical needs and disabilities was one of Bill’s passions. Bill sponsored children to the Shriner’s hospital for medical treatment. He served on the Billings Scottish Rite Language Clinic Board and as the fundraising chairman for the Billings Scottish Rite Language Clinic for several years. Bill also served as Venerable Master of the Scottish Rite in 2009 and as Potentate of the Al Bedoo Shriners in 2010.

He actively sought to help children in every way.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, his parents (Bob and Opal Lewis), and two of his brothers (Jay and Jim Lewis). He is survived by two sisters (Donna Anderson and Peggy Enyeart), his brother (Charles “Chuck” Lewis) and his three children: Suzette Fletcher (Gene) of Billings, Montana, Annette Buehler (Bruce) of Eagle Point, Oregon, and Wayne Lewis of Jacksonville, Florida. Bill enjoyed spending time with family to include his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many will miss Bill’s enthusiasm and passion for life. For Bill, life was an adventure. When you remember Bill, know that he is riding horses and hunting with Mary Ann up Beaver Creek drainage forever.

Bill’s service will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Billings, Montana, on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. We look forward to celebrating Bill Lewis’s life with friends and family. Rather than send flowers, Bill would prefer that you provide support for the Billings Scottish Rite Language Clinic or the Al Bedoo Transportation Fund. God Bless.
