Red Lodge chosen as Hometown Humanities site

Friday, July 6, 2018

Humanities Montana has chosen Red Lodge as the next site for Hometown Humanities, an initiative that brings a year’s worth of humanitiesbased programming to a single community. These programs are scheduled over the course of 12 months, so that every few weeks there is a new event.  All Hometown Humanities programs will be free and open to the public.

A local steering committee with representatives from local nonprofit cultural organizations and area schools will work with members of the community and Humanities Montana staff to plan approximately 25 educational and cultural programs. Events will include public speakers, speakers in the schools, community discussions, and more.

To participate in the planning committee or to sign up for a newsletter to get alerts about upcoming events, email info@humanitiesmontana.org. Humanities Montana welcomes input and participation from all residents of Carbon County.

Previous Hometown Humanities locations include Miles City, Dillon, Lincoln County, Havre, Livingston and Sidney.

Humanities Montana is an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Since 1972, Humanities Montana has engaged people in conversations about the meaning of human experience through grants and programs on history, literature, diverse cultures, philosophy, and current affairs. Each year, Humanities Montana supports hundreds of Montana organizations conducting public humanities programs.
